Pre-insulated pipes for condensate transportation

The effective polyurethane pipe insulation helps reduce heat loss in the transportation of condensate. At the same time, it is possible to monitor the condition of the insulation of the pre-insulated pipes to rapidly detect leakage of condensate.

Condensate is produced when steam is converted from its gaseous form into liquid form, releasing heat energy. Steam generation and distribution requires high temperatures, which entails high heat loss. It also requires water subjected to special treatment. The price of water treated for steam generation is continually increasing, and its chemical treatment is not easy or cheap. That is why the return of condensate through pre-insulated piping, with minimum heat loss, is extremely important for every centralised steam-generating facility.

In view of the aggressiveness of the transported condensate, the carrier pipes used are normally made of steel with reinforced wall thickness to ensure adequate corrosion resistance and consequently a longer service life. We also recommend using valves with a high pressure class rating, e.g. PN40.

Pre-insulated steel pipes with PUR insulation

The Wehotherm® Standard pre-insulated pipeline system is used for underground heat and cold distribution. The steel carrier pipe is insulated with hard polyurethane foam blown with cyclopentane. The casing pipe, manufactured from high-density polyethylene, protects the pre-insulated pipe from the effects of the outside environment.

Wehotherm® Standard pre-insulated pipes meet all of the requirements of European standards EN 253, EN 448, EN 488 and EN 489, including the requirements of the European Association EUROHEAT & POWER and the German association AGFW/FW401.

Pipe operating parameters:
The maximum operating temperature is 142°C (150°C on a short-term basis) for a maximum operating overpressure of 2.5 MPa with a service life of 30 years. Pipes with PUR foam insulation with an increased thermal resistance of up to 165°C can be supplied on request.

Pre-insulated steel pipes with PUR insulation for above-ground distribution

The Wehotek Spiro pre-insulated pipeline system is used for above-ground and industrial heat and cold distribution. The steel carrier pipe is insulated with hard polyurethane foam protected by an outer casing made of zinc-coated, spiral-wound superimposed sheets. On request, outer casing pipe can also be made of steel or aluminium spiral-overlaid sheets.
